So I decided to skip the game for my friend Kat’s Halloween party. This led to me missing yet another unsurprising blowout from Pacific, which has held true for all of the games this season. The Indians blew back the Broncos 56-6, improving to 5-5, which means that they have finally climbed out the cellar and reached .500 for the first time since their victory over the 0-10 Affton Cougars in the opening round of last year’s tournament.
They’d finish off that season with a district title, and a record of 7-6, which is very impressive by Pacific standards. But can they pull that off again? We’ll look at that later, as we begin Sullivan Week with a quick summary of how we got into a rematch with the Eagles in the first place.
Pacific scored 35 points in the first half, 28 of which being both passing and rushing TDs from junior QB Seth Stack. Brock McKinney would run one in to close out the half. Colton Kossuth made it 42-0 with a 26 yard rusher in the middle of the third. Stack would punch in one more touchdown, his sixth of the night, and Jordan Krumrey would finish it off, making the score 56-0 with 6:15 left in the 4th quarter.
Somebody must’ve said ‘shutout’ though, as with one minute left, Bayless QB Andrew Bolden connected to Chris Merryman for a single touchdown, where they would go for two, and then fail.
With that, the Broncos’ season is officially over. I couldn’t get a picture of their postgame huddle from all the way over in the forests of Robertsville, so here’s Owensville again.
Pacific, meanwhile, will travel down I-44 once again for what is sure to be a nailbiter of a rematch between them and their bitter rival, the 6-4 conference runner-up Sullivan Eagles. With the new focus on print as opposed to streaming, HBS will be providing coverage every day from now until kickoff. Happy Sully Week, folks.
