Denny’s on Lindbergh showing obscure digital subchannel of Fox 2 on televisions

SUNSET HILLS, Missouri (HBS) — HBS reporters noticed an unusual broadcast at the Sunset Hills branch of Denny’s late Friday night, when it was discovered that the big TV at the restaurant was showing programming not normally seen in restaurants. KTVI channel 2.2, a subchannel of Maryland Heights’ Fox 2 that broadcasts a feed of Antenna TV (not to be confused with the broadcast medium), was the channel in question.

This channel, being one of many in the area that broadcasts a 24/7 feed of retro TV, is only available over the air, which is a significant departure from the usual cable-based TV services that restaurants and other establishments normally use. Could this be a cost-cutting move due to the rapidly-increasing price of cable? Or is this just a weird choice by the management? We were unable to contact the restaurant’s management, so we may never know.
