Mist Weather Media has released a new update to one of their most used resources, that being the online replica of Weatherscan. This update adds a recreation of the traffic report seen on the original Weatherscan channel from 2005 to 2010.
The report features a map of traffic in the area, identical to what you would see in places like Google Maps and the local news. It then provides an overview of various obstacles, such as construction and accidents. Overall, HBS analysts see this as a great addition.
WARNING: The following section is a Quinn Jones op-ed. Proceed with caution.
I personally think that there should be an entirely different site for traffic. While yes, it fits in nicely, and provides nice info, there should be a version of WXscan that only shows detailed, in-depth traffic info. This could include zooming in on high-density areas, showing live traffic camera feeds, or providing winter weather conditions when applicable.
Overall, I like the addition; it makes the site even more faithful to the original. But I want more. I want traffic.
This concludes the Quinn Jones op-ed.
Other developments at Mist include the new WeatherStar 3000 recreation, as well as everything happening at HBS. You can learn more about what’s happening on their website.
